Hotel and Travel

Hotel reservations must be made directly with the conference hotel, the Hyatt Regency Vancouver, 655 Burrand Street, Vancouver, BC, V6C 2R7 Canada. Toll-free reservation numbers: from North-America 1-888-421-1442; from all other international locations 1-402-592-6464, or online at Hyatt Regency booking. Mention the Association for Bahá’í Studies conference to receive the special conference rate.

 

Special Conference Room Rates

Single/Double Occupancy: CAN $129 per night (plus tax)
Triple Occupancy: CAN $149 per night (plus tax)
Quadruple Occupancy: CAN $159 per night (plus tax)

Please note: these rates are guaranteed only until June 30, 2010. From July 1st to July 16th, the rates increase by $10.00. Reservations made after the cut-off dates will be based on availability at the Hotel’s prevailing rates. The conference rates are extended to four days before and four days after the conference dates.

Driving Directions

  • From Vancouver International Airport (10miles/16 kms): Take Grant McConnachie Way over the Arthur Lang Bridge. Exit Granville Street, proceed north (about 10 km). Turn left at 16th Avenue. Go down two blocks and turn right on to Burrard Street. Procceed on Burrard and over Burrard Street Bridge to Georgia Street (10 blks). Hyatt Regency Vancouver is on your left.
  • From Seattle (approx 140 miles/225 kms): Proceed on I-5 through Peace Arch border crossing.  Continue on Highway 99 on Canadian side and follow it for approximately 20 miles/35 kms through the municipalities of Surrey and then Richmond.  Highway will turn into Oak Street bridge and then Oak Street.  Follow it to 49th Avenue and turn left.  Right on Granville Street and then follow instructions as above.

Public Transportation

From Airport: Follow the signs to Canada Line train (the station is right at the airport). Disembark at the "City Centre Station"  and walk two blocks West on Georgia: the Hyatt Hotel is at the corner of Georgia and Burrard.

Tourism and Entertainment

Vancouver offers many opportunities for outdoor activities: visit Stanley Park and its 11km of beaches (just a few minutes from the conference hotel), walk the Capilano Suspension Bridge, or take a boat tour to see whales, orcas and dolphins just off the coast. Other points of interest are the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia.
