Communication Special Interest Group

Purpose:

  • To provide a vehicle for scholarly exchange among Bahá’ís and interested non-Bahá’ís who are in the communication field as practitioners, academics, and theorists.
  • To relate contemporary academic communication studies to the Bahá’í Faith and assess those perspectives with respect to Bahá’í principles.

Scope:
There are several hundred university programs addressing various aspects of communication. The broad scope of the field is visible at National Communication Association (NCA) Conferences. The following are examples of topics studied in the field of communication: communication theory, interpersonal communication, religious communication, organizational communication, gender and race studies, health communication, communication in education, rhetoric, journalism and media studies, performance studies, ethnography, cross-cultural communication, cultural studies, new technology, development communication, organizational communication.
