Arts Special Interest Group

The Arts SIG exists to encourage participating artists and Bahá’í communities to utilize the arts in a way that will foster growth, transformation, and the application of Bahá’í life and principles to creativity. In addition to stimulating individual progress and teaching work, it seeks to promote an academic and serious study of the arts, which may result in publication, presentation, or exhibition of art and art criticism. It publishes an almost-annual arts journal, ORISON, and sponsors sessions during the annual ABS conference in addition to supporting the general presence and integration of the arts as an essential means of learning and perceiving.

Current goals include:

• More participation in the organization of the Arts SIG
• More interaction during the year among the general membership
• A website for the Arts SIG, especially with regard to ORISON, and possible blog
• Greater collaboration with regard to ORISON: additional editors, reviewers, designers, and so forth
• The possibility of an on-line edition of ORISON—perhaps even several issues a year
• Collaboration and representation in terms of other arts venues—conferences for writers, actors, musicians, and so forth
• Greater networking—perhaps with a voluntary and self-sustaining on-line directory • More production of the arts and promotion of production
• The greater use of the Arts in fostering the current and future goals of the Faith.

Roger White Book

To those friends, admirers, and correspondents of Roger White who sent or meant to send or might now be inspired to send letters, reminiscences, poems, music, and short essays by, about, from, to, or inspired by Roger White for a book of such material, the book is now being revivified.
We need to be in touch with all contributors, even if they signed original releases, to update addresses, and so forth. Many contributors still need to send / proof material. And, of course, there may be more contributors now.
Please send responses to Anne Gordon Perry, perry.rogerbook[at]gmail.com AND Lynnea Yancy lynne.yancy[at]gmail.com.
Thank you for your assistance! Anne & Lynne
